Last Alcatraz Prisoners
None usually remembers the prisoners. But this set of prisoners have their name engraved in the history. Why? They were the last set of prisoners who were ever imprisoned in The Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, located in San Francisco. It was said to be one of the highest security prisons in the United States. Ironically, it was closed in the year 1963 after a violent escape by several inmates in June of 1962.
Snowball Fight Played Bad
Almost all of us have had fights with our friends and batchmates in our juvenile years. And when those fights were with pillows and snow, they meant a great fun. But not every snowball fight is a fun one. These men in the picture above were playing snowball and the intensity with which they threw those at each other was so high that two men amongst these could not even open their eye and the remaining one developed a wound under his eye. Wooh, that must have been painful.
The Boston Marathon
Kathrine Switzer owns her fame to the Boston Marathon of 1967, which made her the very first woman to ever finish that marathon. But it wasn’t easy for her to star that race. This picture is a clear evidence of the odds she had to face in order to gain that title. Many competitors tried to stop her from completing that race. They pushed and pulled her in an attempt to prevent her from winning.
Evolution Of Prosthetic Legs
Prosthetic limbs too date back in the history. In the 17th century, the artificial limbs were attached to the upper part of the body so that they do not move from the place they are specifically designed for. However, with time new and different techniques have been evolved to connect prosthetic limbs to one’s body.
The First Woodstock Fair
What seems to be a cluster and a mess in this picture is actually a crowd incorporating nearly 400,000 people at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair that first time took place in the year 1969 at Upstate New York. It was a three days long event which was attended by people from worldwide who were enjoying the fest and some music and artistic work. It is the aerial view that was captured back then.
Salvador Dali And Raquel Welch
Back in 1965, the actress Raquel Welch was the dazzling diva of that phase. Luckily the famous painter Salvador Dali got the opportunity to paint the portrait of this gorgeous lady. It is quite normal for anyone to go crazy at the presence of the most talked of the lady near them. This picture grabbed much attention where Dali could be seen kissing Welch’s hand after he was done with her portrait.
